What happens next?

If you settled the case, you will sign a stipulation of settlement. It may order the tenant to make a payment or trace a money order or find some further documentation from a city agency. It may also order you to make repairs or provide services. If you go to trial, the judge will determine how much rent is owed. The judge also has the power to dismiss your case if you cannot show the documents necessary for proving your case. You can also withdraw the case and ask to discontinue the case and start a new case at a different time.
